Matrimonial and Family Law

We represent clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including negotiation and preparation of prenuptial agreements, mid-nuptial agreements; separation agreements; uncontested divorce, custody, child support, maintenance and representing clients in both Supreme and Family Court.

Our commitment to matrimonial and family law stems from a strong belief that those areas of law are both more challenging and more rewarding than other areas of legal practice because of the tremendous impact on clients’ personal lives.

Going through a divorce or separation means that a client needs to have regular access to an attorney who will explain the law, the process, the various approaches that can be taken and the risks and benefits that each option entails. We strongly believe in keeping the clients fully informed about all developments in the cases so that we can best strategize and support their decisions.

Representing a client in any family law matter, whether it is drafting a prenuptial or mid-nuptial agreement, an annulment, paternity proceedings, child support, child custody, maintenance application or divorce is both a privilege and a responsibility. While it is our strong preference is to settle cases amicably through negotiation and meditation; however, we are also a skilled and seasoned courtroom advocate who are prepared to seek judicial intervention when necessary to protect a client’s rights. If you would like to schedule a consultation for a matrimonial/family law matter, please visit this page.

Estate Planning; Trust & Estate Administration & Litigation

The worldwide pandemic in 2020 brought home to us all the inevitability of death. Our trusts & estates practice focuses on helping plan for that inevitability. We believe that pre-planning provides peace of mind and clarity for both our clients, their loved ones and families.

In New York State if you do not have your own estate plan in place, New York statutes and laws already have a plan in place for you, it just may not be the plan you want. We can help you create an estate plan tailored to your needs, whether you have significant assets or not.

Our trusts & estates practice can help guide those who are executors of Wills, estate beneficiaries, or the estates of those who die without a will. We also advise Trustees on the administration of trusts and beneficiaries of trusts who need help and guidance regarding their trusts. We can help and guide individuals through the complexities of the Surrogate’s Court which handles estate and trust matters, both administration and litigation.

Elder Law & Guardianships

Our Elder Law practice focuses on your long-term care needs and the preventative measures that you can take to help ease the transition into the later stages of your life. Whilst we can help you create an estate plan, if you have not thought through the cost and impact of your long-term care needs, you may not have any estate assets left to fulfill your estate plan when you die. Long-term care planning may include asset protection trusts which are a key part of Medicaid planning. We can advise and help guide you through the difficulties and navigate the best plan of action.

Advance care directives, like the Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy, are vital estate planning documents that every adult should consider, no matter their age, but are particularly important for the elderly. Without these documents in place families dealing with elderly people who can no longer look after themselves often have to resort to guardianships. We believe in planning to avoid guardianship proceedings, but can also advise and help guide individuals and families through guardianship proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Residential Real Estate

New York real estate is like no other real estate in the world. Whereas individuals in other states often sell and purchase real estate without legal representation, that is not the case in New York.

Because of demand, prestige and price, real estate market in New York City and nearby areas, including upstate and the Hamptons is faster-paced and more expensive than practically any other in the country.

Whether you are selling or buying, whether you are a first-time home buyer or an investor, you will need a team who can smoothly guide you through the process. The team should include a licensed real estate broker and an attorney who will work together quickly and diligently to protect your interests.

For more than twenty years, we have represented both buyers and sellers (including Estates) of co-op shares, condominiums and townhouses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties, as well as homes in the Hamptons and upstate New York.

Fee for comprehensive legal representation start at $4500.
